Michael Roberts Construction Joins U.S. Green Building Council

Campbell, CA; October 27, 2009 – Robert Putnam, vice president and principal of Michael Roberts Construction, Inc. (MRC Inc.) in Campbell announced that the general contracting firm has joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

For years, Michael Roberts Construction has been dedicated to sustainable building and construction. Many of MRC's projects are LEED® certified or have employed sustainable construction initiatives. In addition, a majority of MRC's staff is LEED Accredited and the firm’s resources and experience enables them to offer valuable input regarding a building's construction materials, the most efficient use of resources and reducing the impact of building projects on the environment.

"There are so many reasons to go green – and these advantages extend far beyond the environmental benefits. Green building practices reduce energy consumption and waste as well as related costs, saving clients money immediately and in the long term," said Putnam.

Some of the recent projects built by MRC that included numerous sustainable building features are multifamily communities in Santa Cruz (2030 North Pacific) and Walnut Creek (The Windsor Apartments). Bamboo flooring, hydronic heating, tankless water heaters, solar heated pools, low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint and motion sensor lighting were used throughout each project.
